Guardian Home

The Basics of the Guardian Program

We want all of our breeding dogs to live as pets with their guardian family. In order for us to give our dogs the best possible home, it is important for us to limit how many dogs we keep in our home. However, to be a breeder of quality dogs we need to continue to evaluate and add quality bloodlines into our breeding program. Guardian homes partner with Shoreside Doodles to care for a breeding dog. We use Goldendoodles and Poodles in our guardian home program. Both Goldendoodles and Poodles need to be a part of the family to develop their full potential, and this is why we have the guardian program.

You get a top quality furry family member at no charge, you handle all the normal pet owner stuff and Shoreside Doodles handles all the breeding stuff.  There are cash incentives for you for each litter of puppies.  Again, we handle all the breeding stuff and that includes mom having and caring for the puppies and all the health testing we put into our dogs as potential Shoreside Moms or Dads. At the end of the short time in our breeding program full ownership is transferred to you. The family must be approved as guardian parents and agree to abide by our contract of care.

The guardian home program is an excellent situation for the dog, it's a great deal for guardian parents, and is ideal for producing an exceptional Goldendoodle breeding program. It is one of those "win - win" situations for everyone involved.  The family receives a quality, top pick dog for their forever pet, we are able to improve the breed by using only the best for bettering the breed, and the reason we started our guardian program -- the dog lives in a forever home, receiving one-on-one attention, training and appropriate care.

Guardian Homes Must Have the Following:
  • Own their own home
  • Have their own car to transport the dog
  • Prior experience with dog ownership is helpful
  • Be willing to crate and house train. Must show proof of obedience training. The dog passing K-9 Good Citizenship would be an example of this. There are cash incentives to help with this.
  • Afford to provide quality food, heartwortm/flea/tick prevention, as well as regular vet checks, including vaccines, and grooming every 6-8 weeks.
  • Be prepared to have their own vet listed as a reference
  • Fenced backyard to contain the puppy, or be willing to adequately supervise puppy at all times while outside.
  • Be available to drive dog to and from our home for breeding and whelping
  • Keep us updated on the dog’s progress via email
  • Be willing to socialize the puppy by taking it everywhere possible and showing him/her life in general.
  • Live within easy driving distance (100 miles) to Morehead City, NC. We do not place guardians out of the state.
  • Not have any plans to, or knowingly hold a position that would require you to, leave the 100 mile radius of Morehead City, NC while partnering in the guardian home program

This is a brief overview of the program.
